Fee update - As per the Psychologists’ Association of Alberta (PAA) guidelines, the fee for a Registered Psychologists at Nest Family Counselling will be increasing to $235 per session and the fee for Canadian Certified Counsellor at Nest Family Counselling will be increasing to $200 per session effective March 1, 2025. Thank you for your understanding and support.
We are honoured to support you and your mental health journey! It is the client’s responsibility to review and ensure insurance coverage. The Nest Family Counselling team of Therapists hold various designations. We offer direct billing, depending on the provider and coverage. It is the client’s responsibility to ensure coverage. We have Certified Canadian Counsellors, Registered Provisional Psychologists, Registered Psychologists, and Registered Social Workers on staff.
A few things to take note of:

Intake forms must be filled out by ALL attending members before the session begins. Please click “Intake Forms” in your client profile to ensure the intake has been completed and submitted.

We require a valid credit card on file for all bookings. Your credit card will be your default form of payment unless you specify otherwise.

If you are unable to attend your scheduled appointment, we require 48 hours’ notice before your appointment. Failure to give appropriate notice, or a no-show, will result in a 100% session fee that will be remitted to your credit card on file at the time of the missed appointment

Adult (Individual) Therapy (18+)
Adult therapy is a therapeutic process designed to help individuals address emotional, psychological, or behavioral challenges in adulthood. It can involve a variety of approaches, such as cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), EMDR, or mindfulness-based techniques, to work through issues like anxiety, depression, trauma, stress, relationship difficulties, or life transitions. The therapist provides a safe and supportive environment for individuals to explore their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors, with the goal of improving mental health, increasing self-awareness, and fostering personal growth.
Relationship Therapy
Relationship counseling is a form of therapy that helps couples or partners address and resolve conflicts, improve communication, and strengthen their connection. It focuses on issues such as trust, intimacy, emotional support, and conflict resolution. The therapist works with the couple to identify patterns of behavior, enhance understanding, and develop healthier ways of relating to one another. The goal is to improve the quality of the relationship, deepen emotional bonds, and support mutual growth.
Family Therapy (18+)
Whether you are part of a nuclear family, a blended family or a step-family, Family Counselling helps to develop skills and create a culture of trust through effective family strategies. Family therapy is a form of counseling that focuses on improving communication, resolving conflicts, and strengthening relationships within a family unit. It involves all or some family members and aims to address issues such as parenting challenges, trauma, addiction, mental health problems, or conflict. The therapist helps the family understand dynamics, develop healthier patterns of interaction, and work together to resolve problems. The goal is to improve family functioning, support individual well-being, and foster a supportive, cohesive environment.
All participating members MUST be ADULTS.
Pre-Marital Therapy
Pre-marital therapy is a form of counseling designed to help couples prepare for marriage by addressing potential challenges and strengthening their relationship. It focuses on improving communication, setting expectations, managing conflict, and aligning values and goals. The therapist guides the couple in discussing topics such as finances, intimacy, family dynamics, and long-term plans. The goal is to build a strong foundation for a healthy, lasting marriage by enhancing understanding, resolving concerns, and fostering a positive, supportive partnership. This 8-session program covers a wide range of pre-marital topics such as: communication, family, finances, intimacy, values & beliefs, conflict resolution, building connection, and marriage roles & expectations.
Co-Parent Therapy
Co-parenting therapy is a type of counseling designed to help separated or divorced parents work together effectively in raising their children. It focuses on improving communication, resolving conflicts, and establishing clear boundaries and expectations for parenting. The therapist supports both parents in navigating challenges such as decision-making, discipline, and co-parenting schedules, to create a positive and consistent environment for the children. The overall aim is to reduce tension between parents and promote cooperation, ensuring the children’s emotional well-being remains a top priority.
Step-parents/bonus parents are welcome to attend as well, however, please note that all participants must be mutually agreed upon before attending.
*Co-parent Counselling IS NOT intended to be used as a form of parental assessment/parenting time evaluation or formally produce (or enforce) a legally binding document.
Youth Therapy (13+)
Youth therapy is a therapeutic process aimed at helping adolescents navigate emotional, behavioral, and mental health challenges. It uses a variety of approaches, such as talk therapy, cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), or family therapy, to address issues like anxiety, depression, relationship difficulties, and identity struggles. The therapist provides a safe space for young people to express their feelings, develop coping strategies, and work toward positive change. The focus is on fostering resilience, improving emotional regulation, and supporting healthy development during the transition from childhood to adulthood.
For all initial YOUTH bookings, please book in an PARENT Initial Session. The PARENT session is required to begin the process. After the attendance of the Initial Parent Session, our admin will book in the First Youth Session. All subsequent bookings can be done online as a returning Youth.
Youth bookings are for ages 13-18. If the child is part of a shared custody arrangement, a court order and written consent must be provided from all guardians.
Consultation (15 Min)
A 15-minute consultation is an opportunity to get to know your therapist, their therapeutic approach and formal details regarding session length and cost. You ARE NOT an active client until you have attended a first session and the informed consent process has been completed. Therapists are not legally allowed to receive specifics or work on active goals during the consultation. Check out our team page to discover more about the individual therapists we have on staff!
Extended Sessions (110 Min)
Extended session are intended for clients who would like additional time in session. These 110 minute sessions are available for individuals and relationships
Discernment Therapy
Discernment therapy is a short-term, structured approach designed to help couples in a troubled relationship decide whether to pursue separation, divorce or commit to working on their relationship. It focuses on clarifying the couple’s concerns, goals, and readiness for change. The therapist helps each partner explore perspectives, motivations, and options, providing tools to understand whether they want to reconcile or move forward separately. The goal is to help the couple make a clear, informed decision about the future of their relationship.
This 1-5 session process occurs before Relationship Counselling. Couples clients can transition to Discernment Counselling at any point during the Couples Counselling process if one or more parties identify as not being sure if they want to work on the relationship.
First Responders | Military | Veterans
The rewarding career of First Responders, Military and Veterans can bring unique challenges. Trauma based work can help to unpack complex experiences. Hayley is an approved provider through Veterans Affairs Canada, Medavie Blue Cross, Sunlife and more.
Child Therapy (3-12)
Child therapy is a type of psychological treatment designed to help children cope with emotional, behavioral, or mental health challenges. It involves using age-appropriate techniques such as play therapy, art, or talk therapy to help children express their feelings, understand their emotions, and develop coping skills. The therapist works with both the child and, when appropriate, their family to address issues like anxiety, trauma, depression, or behavioral problems. The goal is to support healthy emotional development and improve overall well-being.
Ages 3-12
Parent Support
A parent support session in therapy is designed to help parents navigate challenges in raising their children, offering guidance on effective parenting strategies, behavior management, and emotional support. The therapist works with parents to address specific issues such as discipline, communication, setting boundaries, managing stress, and understanding their child's emotional or behavioral needs. These sessions aim to strengthen parenting skills, improve family dynamics, and provide parents with the tools and confidence they need to support their child's well-being and development. These sessions are for parents of current child and youth clients who are wanting to book in a follow up session.
